About the Author

Muhammad Hanif Shiwani is a distinctive voice in the world of Urdu tanz-o-mazah (humour and satire). He writes in the grand tradition of mazameen — short literary essays that blend social observation, gentle absurdity, and warm humanity.

His writing makes you laugh and gives you pause in equal measure. His sharp eye for everyday life and profound understanding of human nature give him a special place in Urdu letters.

His works are published by MHS Publishers LTD and are warmly received by readers across the British Pakistani community and beyond.

Mr Shiwani trained at Dow Medical School, Karachi, and went on to achieve multiple FRCS qualifications from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England, Ireland, and Glasgow, as well as Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons. He holds a Masters in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh.

Over his 30+ year career, he has trained more than 200 surgeons across Yorkshire, served as a Senior Examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons for over 15 years, and been a Board Member of the European Board of Surgery for over 7 years. He currently practices at Spire Methley Park Hospital, Leeds.
